We just want to say a huge heart-felt THANK YOU to everyone who came out Saturday to participate in the Green Exchange. We had a fantastic turnout and met a lot of new people! This time around we had lemons, oranges, kumquats, tangelo’s, jelly, radishes, mixed salad greens, carrots, kombucha and kombucha cultures, fresh eggs, a lot of seeds, etc. Very impressive! We would also like to say “thank you” to the Beaumont Enterprise for coming out to cover it. Super nice people! We can hardly wait until the next Exchange on February 6th! I know that we are in for some freezing weather that may diminish a lot of our gardens but here are some other alternative goodies you might consider bringing: any late-in-the-season/winter garden harvest, seeds, canned goods, unwanted houseplants, or even offers of help in preparing/managing your garden for winter. What treasures do you have to share with your neighbor?
Also, we will soon be offering a SETX Green Exchange at The Barking Dog’s Orange location as well. This will be held on the 3rd Saturday of the month so that those wishing to attend both may do so. We hope to kick this off in February or March, so stay tuned for more information on that front. We are also working on a few other exciting things that we will be sharing with everyone as they unfold.
……………..I would also like to add that we have had several people inquiring as to wether or not they could come to the Exchange even if they do not have anything to swap. ABSOLUTELY! Please do attend even if your don’t have anything to bring right now. It is more of a sharing out of the overflow of what you’ve grown. A “bring what you want and take what you want” more than a “swap.” We are just interested in fostering community between like minded people.
Does anyone have any outdoor worm bins full of worms that are freezing their wiggly tails off? We are looking for some worms to adopt in order start our bin with and would love to give them a nice warm home!
Thanks!
Amanda
What a wonderful idea! Where is the Barking Dog location in Orange?
It is near the college.
Namaste, I would like to meet you to discuss some of the projects we are involved in, we are establishing a community garden on our little collective in Winnie, and are preparing to present to county comm. court and all of the local city councils regarding the same. We are a non profit org. and just trying to be responsible hippies. Please consider visiting our site sbafarms.com. Our blog section is powered by the same software you are using and we would be very interested in perhaps arranging with you to cross post your blog to our site. More coverage, etc. peace and light
